When a person reads for leisure it is in a place of comfort with a book that excites and challenges them. My goal for this project is to start my classroom library and provide my students with the space to not just read a book, but to enjoy the experience of reading through alternative seating. By allowing them to choose a seat that provides comfort to associate with reading, I hope to foster a love of reading early on in their education. I have chosen sets of books to meet and challenge my students’ reading level to ensure their progression and skill levels are ever advancing. Another goal for my books is to make sure that the characters look like my students so they can find them relatable and engaging. I have also chosen cozy seating to help nurture the idea that reading is enjoyable. I have also included a bookshelf to house the books.
