Flexible seating allows students to be in charge of choosing where and how they sit to enhance engagement. I would like to provide materials that allow for alternative seating. Students learn and perform at their best when they are comfortable. Currently, there are not many options for my students to choose to move to in order to work comfortably. They can sit under desks, laying on cushions on the floor, using clipboards or sitting on the floor. I would like the students to be able to take charge of making their own choice in their seating. Creating an environment like this allows my students to be more engaged and less distracted. The items I have selected will help my students by allowing them to have additional seating options. The stand up table allows up to 2 students to work while standing at the table, which allows for movement. There are many students that cannot sit still and actually prefer to stand while working. The comfy floor seats and portable tables will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom as well as for any assignment. This project would help my students stay comfortable and engaged in our learning throughout the day. Feeling comfortable and having the freedom to choose where they work has shown benefits in students' learning.
