Through the use of a team whiteboard easel, clipboards, Post-it notes, and a mini projector, students will have an opportunity to develop ideas, build, and share learning strategies to expressed an understanding of the world through focused literature circles. Students will utilize the materials to generate questions about texts, create cross-curricular connections, and present findings to the class. Encouraging collaborative group work prepares today's High School students for careers in multiple fields. Students have the ability to communicate through technology but need to enhance their ability to collaborate through positive communication in small group settings. The materials requested will allow for students to do just this. To transition from the modeled ¨I do, We do, You do.¨ and learn that the future will require leaders to show that Ï can, You can, We can¨ create a better future through teamwork. I want my room to be a place where we do not simply study classic and contemporary literature, write the standard college prep essay, or create slideshows. I want my room to be an environment filled with collaboration. Through creating tiered groups, I seek to create a learning environment which allows for individual needs to be met in addition to celebrating the strengths of each student's individual learning style.
