Water and sand play provide early hands-on exploratory scientific play. Exploring and practicing how to pour water from one vessel to another, understanding which shaped vessel holds more? Which items sink or float? How much water mixed with dirt makes the best mud? Water and sand play also encourages practicing small motor function, which is the foundation of physically writing. And finally, water play is grounding and promotes self regulation. All with dirt and water....back to basics! I need a large and sturdy sensory table for use primarily during recess but also available when a student is triggered and needs help to self regulate.
