Using books and manipulatives to learn content and to spark creativity is the simplest way to engage all learners. I use a great deal of technology in my classroom, but sometimes kids just need good old-fashioned books and visuals to stimulate their creativity, imagination, and curiosity about the past, present, and future. The Social Studies Kit I proposed will enhance students' curiosity of the past and will provide visuals and manipulatives to further assist their comprehension of our wonderful history of building a nation, ways people survived, and what our world is like today. I selected literature that will serve as a springboard for writing their own stories, creating memories of their childhood, learning ways to communicate with others, and expressing their opinions and ideas in a collaborative setting.
