How a classroom feels and functions can contribute to the overall success of the students who occupy that room. This new space will allow my growing students flexibility in seating and create a more inviting space for them as they continue their journey as readers. When students are split into different groups, this additional lounge area will provide a more inclusive space for students to read or collaborate with peers on ideas presented within texts more naturally. My classroom is usually setup with different areas for students to stretch out or stand in an effort to celebrate individualism and support diversity within the classroom. These areas are essential so that students have space needed to complete different tasks as comfortably as possible as to not take away from the work and aid in positive behavior. I really want to put more of a focus on the classroom library as one area they can choose from by including the two lounge couches. And then there are a few students who struggle with sitting for long periods of time. The new bounce chairs can be used to help motivate some while calming others in a productive way that does not overshadow space other students may desire themselves. These changes will provide more options in seating and allow for freedom in how my students learn. My hopes are that because they enjoy the new lounge, they will celebrate reading in addition to building stamina and confidence.
