To effectively complete our first unit we will need supplies such as rulers, calculators, and supplemental learning resources. Students will use calculators to check their work, rulers to design place value charts, and art supplies to engage in group activities to "Think-Pair-Share." Organization and note taking skills are important during this unit. During this unit students will learn how to solve problems with parenthesis, exponents, and apply the orders of operations. Student will need to properly organize each step of the problems throughout the unit to ensure their calculations are correct. Considering the socio-economic status of our students, many will be introduced to a calculator for the first time to check their answer. Students will also learn how technology such as calculators can advance their learning.
