My students want to learn to read and learn to love to read. By putting culturally responsive books in their hands, they can find words and images that they can relate to. This increases their desire to want to pick up a book and read it. I want all of my students to be able to find books on our classroom shelves that they can relate to. These culturally diverse books will be the start of class discussions and discoveries about people from all over the world. These books will allow my students to feel comfortable in our classroom environment and to open up about their own backgrounds. Together, we can create a safe and welcoming space for my emergent readers!

About my class
