My students need a classroom area that visually demonstrates how enjoyable reading can be! A colorful yet calming reading nook will invite each reader to enjoy concepts of picture and print while developing a love for books and reading! Children that are learning to read need to be excited about reading. They need to develop an intrinsic desire to read and push themselves deeper into books. Providing a calm and comfortable area in the classroom that inspires and nurtures the love for reading will allow each student to cultivate a positive mindset for literacy. Classroom teaching methods often use anchor texts to introduce new concepts in reading. These concepts will be instilled into each individual child as they are able to peruse and push themselves individually as readers. A calming and comfortable environment will provide the motivation that many young and new readers may need to dig into text and picture books.
