My project will help students to focus their busy bodies as they are learning to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. The wobble stools, cushions, and foam pads will give options for students to choose a place that they can focus on the task at hand. Literature offers teachable moments to promote social-emotional skills. Through the imaginative process of reading, children have the opportunity to better understand others, and eventually become more aware of themselves. The selected books are filled with those teachable moments!
