Technology is an important addition to any modern classroom. We live in a world where technology is inescapable. By integrating technology in the classroom, students learn to navigate devices for educational purposes. My Pre-K students use iPads during structured learning time. After learning the Math and Language lesson of the day, students are split into groups of 5 for small group learning time. Groups 1 and 2 are engaged in learning with our teacher aide and myself, group 3 is independently working on a task related to the lesson, and group 4 works on individualized lessons on iPads. The group of students at the iPad station are able to play educational games that are personalized to their individual learning levels. This means that most of the students are participating in different Math and Language activities/games within the Pre-K curriculum. Once students have mastered these objectives, the individualized program continues to Kindergarten skills. I would like to purchase 2 more classroom iPads, so that all 5 students in the rotation will be able to work on their own iPad. These new materials would help to ensure that all 5 students at the iPad station would have a working iPad during small group rotations. Students will also be able to use the iPads to access their personal, interactive lessons at free-choice play time. Adding these materials to my classroom would be a huge asset in student learning. The iPads will remain in my classroom for many years and will benefit numerous students.
