Fifth graders love science, and I feel it is so important for kids to experiment and learn through self-discovery. Hands-on activities are so important for students to use for problem solving and cooperative learning. I work very hard to emphasize how important it is to be a part of a team giving effort and work together cooperatively. My students come from low income families and they do not have access to the items I have asked for in my request. I plan to use these materials in my classroom as station activities for my "Fun Fridays". Students will pick which item they wish to work with and form a team to work on the STEM challenges. It is my hope that these activities will spark the natural curiosity in each child and give all of my students the hands-on science activities they deserve.
