At WLMS, we have students from all socio-economic backgrounds. However, a large percentage of our students find themselves struggling to obtain the appropriate materials needed for their education. By not being able to obtain these materials with them, students' education are often affected. This often has snowball effects in other areas of the students' lives. By having these tools readily available to all students, the stigma of needing is taken away. Within the walls of my classroom, I have a a student supply center that is accessible whenever for students to use. This center is centrally located within the classroom, so that all students may easily access it throughout the class period. There are a variety of reasons students may need to use this center, but the end goal is for all students to be able to use it at any time. By giving students access to materials in a safe, nonjudgmental environment, students are able to focus more on their education rather than what they need to succeed. I am requesting markers, pencils, map books, folders and more.
