Every student wants to connect with a book on a personal level. Having a wide range of diverse books in my classroom can help my students feel welcomed in the classroom. In my classroom we are a family and in order to be a family we need to understand each others differences. I want my students to feel empowered by the books they will encounter in reading. All of the books I have selected will do one or more of the following: teach a valuable life lesson, empower and inspire them, learn about other cultures.
