I'm a first-year, third grade, math/science teacher at a school in a historically underserved community, who lacks the resources to integrate contemporary elements in the classroom. These elements include small group stools, stability ball-chairs and, real-life science experiments that incorporate electricity, hydroelectricity, magnetism and wind power. Integrating these elements in the classroom not only piques student interest and increases student engagement, they also can be used to build and sustain mental focus during instruction. The traditional classroom settings can create an enormous amount of student inactivity, so the stability ball-chairs are designed to build strong posture and promote active movement throughout the classroom. The electromagnetic and wind power experiments are designed to expose students to STEM education at an early age. This sharpens, practices and promotes rigorous thinking skills. Please help me expose these students from economically disadvantaged communities to a blended classroom style that integrates innovative technology.
