Students with high emotional and physical needs work hard to just stay regulated she they can be in a main stream, traditional classroom. Having party favors, balls, fidget toys, and other tools that allow a student to fidget and receive sensory input quietly while the student continues to stay in the classroom without disrupting the other students is the focus of this project. Learning to self regulate is a difficult skill to master in typical times but now it is even more difficult. I need enough tools for each of my students to have their own. In this pandemic students can not share tools. Your donation will ensure each student gets an individual tool that will stay with them and assist them in self regulation for the entire school day. I have seen these tools work with many of my students. I am always so excited when I see a student using the tools we have worked together to implement for that student to remain in class and learn. Perhaps a student feels anxious or feels like they need a brain break however the teacher and class are not at a stopping point just yet. A student it taught the skill to self assess what they need to persevere through the lesson. One of those tools may be a textured ball rolling over the palms. Or perhaps a stretchy being quietly pulled to assist a student to stay focused. Teaching these self regulation skills and sensory awareness can not be done without the appropriate tools. These tools will make a difference in every classroom in our building. This is an quick and easy way to truly impact multiple teachers, students and an entire building.
