My students must be provided with books that are diverse and culturally aware in order to stay interested in literature. Our country and culture is changing and emerging every single day – why shouldn’t my classroom library keep up? Students in my classroom have been reaching out to me saying that they want to read about more diverse people, tough subjects, and people with different ability levels. I must answer their call and provide this literature! Providing students with diverse literature will make the students more culturally aware and accepting of all people. Hopefully, this literature will spark interest and peak curiosity about what is going on in our world today. I can’t wait to see how my students learn and grow in their global awareness.
