Reading is one of the most crucial learning activities and often also the one students currently devote the least amount of time to completing. From vocabulary acquisition to knowledge growth, reading is incredibly valuable. If students are to become lifelong readers and learners, they have to read widely and often. One of the barriers to voracious reading is encountering the "right" book. By providing an updated and varied selection in my classroom library, I can help students encounter many more books that will capture their interest and encourage them to continue reading outside of my classroom. We need to read.
