The leveled reading materials will help my students to practice comprehensive reading strategies in the resource room. The extra one-on-one and small group instruction is necessary for them to be successful in the general education classroom. They can engage in stories and articles that interest them. The skills they will build while reading these books will help me to improve their overall reading levels. I want to expose them to culturally responsive reading materials so that they are better prepared to engage in classroom discussion during cooperative learning groups. They are already low readers, but being able to read and participate in groups helps them build self confidence and esteem.
