The use of whiteboards can be fun for students especially students with disabilities. Whiteboard markers are fun when picking the colors, but a traditional whiteboard does not allow students to interact with what is on the board. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use. Students with disabilities tend to push harder with their markers and this ruins a tip of a marker. They also tend to forget to put the lids on markers very well in part because they do not always have the strength to push the caps on, so our markers dry out daily. Students also have difficulty sitting or staying engaged even with different colors. By having an interactive whiteboard, students will be able to learn and interact with the material in a fun and engaging way! By donating to this project, you will not only help students with special needs stay engaged, but also help them increase their learning and achievement through the use of technology. This technology will also allow students to learn and interact with new technology and increase their understanding of concepts. We live in a technology literate world. These items will help me reach all my students, regardless of exceptionality or learning style. Interactive and hands-on learning allows for students to grasp concepts or materials they might not have grasped otherwise with the traditional paper and pencil.
