In third grade, one of our most anticipated units of study is animal habitats. Each student has the opportunity to select an animal of their choice to research and present to the class. Their research takes them on regular visits to the library and research sites on the computer. In addition, students are asked to create a diorama that illustrates their animals habitat and present their learning to their peers. Why not bring some of the possibilities up close and personal! Having the ability to closely examine physical adaptations can clarify confusion and inspire additional inquiry. As an added bonus, the microscopes will allow students to bring in approved samples of their own to inspect and share with the class.
