I want to provide more books with characters of color, characters of diverse cultures, and books that represent different ethnic backgrounds. From my own experience and in experiences shared with me, I know that seeing oneself reflected in an environment leads to sense of belonging. I want all teens in our school library to feel seen and represented. These books will help our teens to know that they belong in our library, our school, and our community. I've seen students check out books where their color and culture are represented. Books like this make a different for teens.
