Many students with special needs have difficulty sitting in a typical classroom environment. Having optional seating for students will help them to release pent up energy and maintain better focus in the classroom. Students ability to focus during learning is key to their success in the typical classroom. The alternative seating options I have requested will allow student more ability to fidget, move, and release energy in a way that is not disruptive to other students. Research shows that the increase in physical activity for students leads to more on-task behaviors and improved academic success. Bouncing and moving while seated is a simple alternative to help active students.
