I am going to be focusing on reading and writing this school year. Like I mentioned previously, my class is remedial language arts. This means that my students need a little extra time relearning concepts. Many of my students will be able to relate to the characters in these books. One of the assignments we'll be working on is about memoirs. I will have each student write their own short memoir. They will need to illustrate their story as well. I chose some magazine subscriptions as well so that my students can learn how to read magazines and be able to pull out facts and use them as sources in their writing. I will be going over credible sources with my students as well. Some students may have forgotten what to look for when searching for a credible source. I used TIME magazine when I was a student and remember loving the content in the magazines. These magazines will go over a variety of subjects such as science, history, and even sports! My students will be well-rounded.
