The items that I have requested are a vital part of my classroom becoming a family of students who have both the social and fine motor skills that will be imperative in life. I will use these resources throughout our day, during class meetings, large group time, small group time and learning stations. Cooperative learning is the priority of these resources. Whether it is being a part of a team, learning about our emotions, taking care of others or developing our fine motor skills while still working with others these students can develop important life skills in an engaging way. The goal of using these materials in my classroom is for the students to work together, build on their vocabulary of language development, increase cognitive task abilities, and work on collaborating as well integrate science and mathematical skills through a variety of STEM activities. When providing opportunities for students to engage in project based lessons the ability for them to learn increases, the fairytale stem kits will provide a way for all students to work on their target skills for language (ELA), math, science, and social studies for it integrates rhyme, story recall, and brings it to life by building aspects of the fairy tale for which they have to provide science reasoning skills, math skills, and social studies of community and peer collaboration. The books teach the students about emotions, working together, and being a team player which is lacking due to COVID and less peer interactions and experiences when entering Kindergarten. The other learning center activities will require the students to work together to build, care for, and work through real life scenarios while engaging with others through rhythm and train building sets creating social study experiences.
