In my special education classroom, my students crave to learn, despite their various disabilities that can make learning much more difficult. It is my goal to create a safe classroom environment that will allow my students to progress and improve in their areas of need. Many of my students struggle with sitting still in their desk during instruction, which can be distracting for them as well as others. The flexible seating option that I am requesting will allow my students to move around in their seats while sitting down. The wiggle seats can provide a sensory input for my students with Autism, and they can provide an outlet for restlessness and extra energy for those students with ADD/ADHD. My students will love having these choices in seating and will feel more comfortable in their learning environment. This will reduce the number of necessary breaks the students might require, which will result in more instructional time. They will be able to get through tasks without having to get up and walk around, and they will have constant access to the sensory input that they require.
