When working with children with autism it is critical to try and see the world from their perspective. Children with autism can often face a host of challenges with regulating their bodies, communicating in a way that is universally understood and translating the world around them into a language they can understand and relate to. Small adjustments can lead to huge results. By creating a classroom environment that visually supports students with autism, educators help alleviate the burden that can come as students work to process new information. The room dividers are essential in helping my students with autism feel confident in navigating their new room. While typically functioning individuals may be able to identify and respond to limits within an environment, my buddies could use the extra visual support to help them understand what classroom expectations and boundaries exist.
