My students need to see the concepts in action. They need to physically move, adjust, and touch items to help internalize concepts with phonics and math. Right now the students are working with place value, and are struggling without these resources. Place value is a very important concept in math and I want these students to start the school year on the right foot. Students will retain more information when they can manipulate the learning. Not every student is an auditory learner. In a special education setting I need to be able to service every type of learner. I need your support to help each child feel success this school year. The unifix cubes will allow students to manipulate a number when they are adding and subtracting. It will also assist the students when they are learning problem solving. The phonics kits will allow students to learn letter sounds as they build their vocabulary knowledge and reading abilities. I have a few students who benefit from a posted schedule. The clock will help us track time during our group work and the posted schedule will allow students to see the time frame of the day.
