The items requested through our project will support our students' ability to remain calm or regain a calm, alert state conducive to learning. We need a plush sofa, bean bag, chairs, weighted blankets, and massage mats. These sensory tools will help our students. When they become agitated, they tend to stay in a cycle of agitation/frustration until they are able to calm down. During these times they often cry for long periods of time, become aggressive toward teachers or other children in the class. When the students have the use of these tools throughout the instructional period, they are able to remain calm longer and can then struggle with a difficult task they are learning and come closer to mastering the task.
