GLOW girls may not have access to technology when they return home after the school day is over. As these young women grow and learn in our community, it is also our jobs as educators to instill in them skills that they can build on in their higher education. In our Science class, we incorporate technology everyday. From using NASA data to track dissolving Icecaps, to NOAA's hurricane tracker during hurricane season, my students are immersed in current scientific events. This does become increasingly difficult, however, when the girls do not have access to individual technology at their fingertips. In order to work on projects themselves, and become more confident, independent thinkers, we need technology for each student in the classroom.
