These items will make such a big difference in my students' learning because they will have the opportunity to hear stories being read to them and to use interactive activities.
My English Language Learners will have the opportunity to listen to words and stories in English. This will help them to learn English quicker and feel more confident in class.
The way in which my students will use this center is to listen to a story with a partner. One person holds the book and the other flips the pages. When the story is over, they will talk about the story with their partner and then go back through the story and retell what happened in the story. Once they have finished retelling the story my students will complete a response or comprehension sheet.
My students will benefit from this resource because a listening center helps to build comprehension. It is the place where students are able to engage in good listening skills. When students are at listening centers they are able to hear examples of fluent reading and good pronunciation. My main goal for this resource is to build listening skills and comprehension.
These items will also afford my students the opportunity to not only listen to a story on their own and answer questions but listen to phonics cds and tapes and follow the directions. This helps students learn to follow directions. Students can also use the resource to listen to Rosetta Stone to help my Spanish speakers learn English and my English speakers learn Spanish.
