All students at the age of 6 & 7 love adventure. By acquiring the resources and supplies I need for my students I will be able to give them ADVENTURE. These materials will help me create a student centered and hands on classroom. As a teacher in a low socio-economic area, many of my students have never left their neighborhood, with these resources I will be able to take my students places. Often times, my student's engage in online programs like I-Ready, Reflex Math, and Prodigy. Instead of enjoying their time online, students often spend their computer time telling me they cannot concentrate because of the computers around them and the noise. The headphones, I requested, will help them concentrate and meet learning goals. Aside from math, I teach Science and Social Studies. Remember I said I wanted to take my student's places. Well, online field trips are extremely effective for Social Studies and Science lessons. As many families at my school cannot afford to pay for field trips with headphones we can still go to NASA, The American History Museum, Miami Zoo, science labs, and more! Additionally, I requested Math and Science resources. These resources will facilitate hands on learning. For example, students will be able to watch life begin before their eyes with the Butterfly Garden, this will help them understand life cycles. Students will use their very own clocks to learn how to tell time and elapsed time with their Analog Clocks. Although, time flies when you're having fun.
