In a few short weeks, our district will begin using Guided Math Instruction to further meet the needs of our students where they are when they enter Kindergarten. Math is meant to be fun, hands-on and engaging. In an effort to build a library of concrete math materials, I am in need of your help! As I mentioned, many of my students require concrete materials to grasp math concepts and skills. It is important for me to offer them many visuals and models to promote interactive learning. I plan to use the large dominoes for whole and small group instruction to help build a strong background in number recognition, adding and cooperative games. The students will have the opportunity to follow along with my model using their dominoes. The ten frames are the core of what children use to learn in Kindergarten, and I plan to use them to promote independent learning in small group settings.
