Book Clubs foster interaction, and diverse responses and reaction to text that lead to inquiry and critical thinking. My fourth grade students are branching out as readers and will benefit from reading books where they can read and share thoughts about quality literature. Many famous authors also say that the more you read, the more developed your own writing skills become. My students will be meeting in groups weekly to discuss the books they are reading. This leads to increased fluency and comprehension of text. Book Clubs promote personal reflection and a positive attitude toward reading when they are presented with quality text.
