My students want to document their lives at school through digital storytelling. These five cameras would give my students an opportunity to learn the basics of digital photography, skills which can serve them well in an increasingly technological world. Photography offers an alternative to students who do not excel in the more traditional artistic skill set a chance to shine. It also is a great way for students to develop skill in artistic composition. Many of my students already love to use their phones to take pictures for social media. Learning the skills involved in taking photographs will increase student engagement and self-esteem. My students will also have an opportunity to take photographs for our school yearbook. This will build a sense of community and increase engagement.
