Students go to the home living center to imagine, pretend, and be creative. These are all higher-order thinking skills! In the home center, students learn how to solve problems, take turns, and use new vocabulary. Students practice and develop skills in oral language, literacy, math, science, social studies, as well as fine motor, gross motor, and social skills. The dolls, dollhouse, baskets, and rug will be valuable additions to our class home living center. Children will talk to and care for the dolls; as well as learn to take turns and share them. The rug will invite the children to sit comfortably on the floor as they play, and the neutral color helps avoid over-stimulation. The baskets will provide a way to keep the space tidy and neat, to add to the calm and enjoyable feeling of the room.
