The materials that I am requesting will help transform this ordinary classroom into a home away from home for my 4th graders. I aim to provide students with literature and other materials that will help expand their minds and encourage critical thinking. As someone who attended low-income schools throughout my entire K-12 education, I know exactly what it feels like to not have access to materials that are up to date. All of the books have been chosen with my students' identities, cultures, and backgrounds in mind. Every child deserves to have access to quality and relevant reading material. By funding this project, you are contributing to their growth as individual students. You are making it possible for them to expand not only their reading skills, but their lives will be changed as a result.
