They also allow third graders to apply the many reading skills and strategies that are essential for reading comprehension. One specific skill that students need to navigate through would be the study and application of nonfiction text features. These are featured throughout each magazine, allowing students to apply what they have learned in the classroom. The issues based on current events can also help to inspire and get students excited to read!
