My students will be creating interactive social studies notebooks that will be used as their Passports to Social Studies, allowing them to see and experience the world from our classroom. Many of my students have never left the city limits of Detroit, and our Passports will emphasize what students find most interesting and inspiring from the places and people we are learning about in class. By experiencing the greater global community and seeing that they can influence the world at large by being constructive citizens, it is my hope to inspire my students to ask bigger questions and look for more information outside of class. It is my goal that they will be inspired by learning about other cultures to be more accepting and compassionate, involved citizens.
