My students will use iPads multiple times throughout the day to engage in learning, research questions, and create multimedia projects. iPads will create opportunities for my students to have differentiated learning based on each child’s specific needs. During literacy centers children will have the opportunity to choose apps based on their interest. Children can engage in reading online books at their differentiated level. They will also have fun playing phonics games where they can build compound words, contractions, and investigate silent E. During Math time children can work independently or with a partner to practice strategies and skills taught during lessons. Through specific apps children can show me their understanding and thought process by recording their math work or their writings. During Social Studies and Science students can choose which application they would like to organize their group project. As a team, children will collaborate to design their presentation to share with the class. Children light up when they have the opportunity to share their masterpieces with their teacher and peers! The gift of technology, specifically iPads, can enrich any activity in my classroom to make it more fun and exciting for this age group. When students are engaged, meaningful learning occurs.
