Morning bins will be used as a way for my students to come in and decompress before we start our day. Each morning students will get a bin with a different manipulative. They will build and create for the first several minutes on their own. Then I will ask them to create something specific. Each day the students will get a different manipulative which will result in deeper thinking. Allowing students to create different objects also opens their imagination, which in my opinion is very import in this technology world we live in! Using morning bins will give their minds a chance to think abstractly. This hands on approach is a great alternative to pencil and paper morning work!
