At an elementary level, students are exposed to many engaging and interactive activities in math, but the emphasis on these activities diminishes at a secondary level. I want to create an opportunity for students to engage with math critically and creatively by providing a space to explore and take ownership of their learning. Additionally, using a tool like interactive notebooks, combined with the existing technology that supports learning in my classroom, has shown to boost levels of understanding of concepts tested, thus creating scholars that are graduation-ready and math-literate. Only thing is: we need notebooks. I hope to supplement tools for them with my own classroom tools, like whiteboard markers to showcase their work, colored paper to print out key idea ideas/study guides on, and anchor charts to highlight classroom expectations and discussion points throughout the year. I want students to have a space that they can focus on learning and thinking critically, not worrying about supplies running out. Any donation will help tremendously, and my students will greatly appreciate the support given to make our classroom vision a reality.
