Flexible seating has been shown to increase student engagement and achievement by allowing students to choose what works best for them. The options I will have for the students will allow them to spread out either in a cushioned chair, a balance ball, or on the floor. Because each child will be in the option that is best for him/her, I am confident that I will see a marked improvement in the quality of writing produced. Right now, my classroom consists of regular desks and chairs, and I would like to give my students more options for seating. I have students move to the floor with clipboards, and even that makes a difference in their learning. Imagine what they will do when they have even more options!
