I teach Social Studies at a middle school where we have a high population of Spanish speaking students and parents. The majority of my curriculum focuses on studying and learning about Mesoamerica in particular the Mayan, Aztec, and Inca civilizations. Many of my students have never learned about or know about these fascinating cultures, so needless to say I have an absolute blast leading them through this journey. The problem that I run into is with my students that are ESL students a lot of what I teach gets lost in translation and for most of them this is the wonderful history of their country. I want to to be able to teach and communicate in Spanish so that I can include all my students. I would like to meet all my students needs and this is a great way to meet my ESL students and parents needs.
