Flexible seating gives the students the ability to choose what type of seat they need for learning activities throughout the day. Depending on the learning tasks, my students may prefer seating options like the cushions and bouncy balls and tables that sit close to the floor to enhance their learning experience. There are many benefits to flexible seating in the classroom. First, the students are able to make choices for themselves as learners. This gives them a sense of control in their learning style. Secondly, flexible seating allows for movement; which in turn can help to sustain focus for all of the learning that occurs in first grade. Also, flexible seating can help to promote collaboration within our classroom. I am hoping to provide these flexible seating options to better meet the learning needs of the students.
