These materials will help my students create, story tell, and video their experiences of what sustainability means. As of right now, we are headed full steam ahead with in person learning at our school- scary for all students, teachers and parents. But I know there was also many skills that were not worked on given the students life experiences these past two years. That being said I enrolled in a course that talked about ocean sustainability and it got me thinking that the work ability is used in so many ways some looked down upon (unfortunately) and some glorified like when used in sustainability. So my goal of this project is for students to document how they are sustaining their ability to go to school, do homework, take care of family, and most importantly take care of themselves. These iPads provide a better quality outcome that students will feel comfortable using as well as have the apps and services needed for students to be able to create a short movie or trailer of how they sustain their ability to keep striving and thriving. How can anyone take care of their community, their island, or their land or ocean if they are not able to understand the importance of taking care of themselves too. I am hopeful that this material will provide them the motivation to create and share their experiences with their peers and contribute to their community but sharing their creations.
