Have you ever waited for something, for 10-12 minutes, before ultimately giving up out of frustration? In my classroom it currently takes 10-12 minutes to print one picture, under very strict supervision. This frustrates students to not ask for pictures of items that mean something to them. Without personal pictures to reference as they draw, their art then becomes cold, stale, and impersonal to them. A Kindle Fire, with a simple internet connection, will give them an eternal library of photos to choose from as a reference point and will cut down printing time from 10-12 minutes, to instant access, in their own seats. My students want to create and draw something from their daily lives. They want to draw sports logos, animals, portraits, cultural icons, video games, celebrities all from different states, continents, or angles. Ultimately they yearn for the right photo to learn from, and with a Kindle Fire, we have the opportunity to make that happen.
