Do you remember a lesson where the teacher tried her best to explain a concept and it just didn't click. Then the teacher showed a visual model or video and it all became clear. This is the purpose of the online site BrainPop. It is a way to increase understanding through fun and engaging videos and games. BrainPop has thousands of videos. There is one for almost every science lesson I teach. These short videos can catch those kids who just aren't understanding the concept and just need a different twist on the information they are learning. BrainPop is also great for students who are absent and missed instruction or a lab. These videos and activities are great because all students can learn from them due to their clear explanations and interactive activities. There have been 5 different research studies done on the use of BrainPop and the correlation to increased academic results.
