Please help me develop a classroom environment to foster mindfulness and regulate sensory needs while working on IEP goals related to my student's )social/emotional and physical health; which in turn will support their academics and overall functioning. Students with severe and profound disabilities need equitable access to mindfulness instruction and time to self regulate. The overall environment of the classroom is so important as it sets the tone for learning. If the room is calming and welcoming students are more likely to attend to tasks an remain ready to learn. Comfort with flexible seating, lighting, and noise level impact education tremendously.
