Not only will the books provide some valuable lessons in life, but these nonfiction-based books will also teach children important background knowledge that will later help in group discussions! Students will share their insights on the book they choose with a reading group! The books will also help students share understanding and new perspective of the world. These new books will spike interest in my students as they will recognize characters' names plus, they will be able to relate with challenges those characters faced! I will teach and share strategies regarding informational text, provide basic foundation about it for all students and I will teach that reading nonfiction is interesting! Students will be able to see how a person lived their life and how they overcame situations to be able to make a difference and an impact for themselves and others.
